As Ethiopia’s first shipments make their way to the states and the C market hits unprecedented highs, we want to shine a spotlight on the G2 coffees we’re offering out of Ethiopia. Even more than in a typical year, these coffees represent one of the strongest, if not the strongest, value propositions we’re seeing in the world right now.
As we mentioned, the C market is breaking records. It’s volatile moments like these that those among us who don’t already know learn that we’re always coupled to the C market no matter what we may want to believe or what our purchasing model looks like.
The easiest way to digest our current market moment is threefold:
1) Stocks are extremely low across consuming countries.
2) Brazil simply isn’t shipping coffee after a historically low crop, meaning that there isn’t any respite for the stock situation in sight.
3) Crop forecasts continue to be dire for the immediate Brazil crops on the horizon.
Add in the new EUDR regulations set to take place January 1, 2026 and it’s very difficult to see where the floor drops out on this market in the months ahead.
The Good News
In some miraculous turn of events, Ethiopia G2 coffees are clearly the best value proposition out there at the moment. Our G2 offerings will be universally more palatable price-wise than anything coming out of Central America this winter/spring/summer.
We’re about to head back to Ethiopia for our 3rd trip in 3 months as we inspect and approve the milling of our final purchases for the season. Our G2 quality is as good as ever if not even better than seasons prior. We’re offering an array of lots, ready to fill a range of menu positions. These are solid, beautiful, versatile coffees, more than a dozen of which are already on the water, and they will go fast.
Our advice would be to grab ahold of these to fill out your menu and make sure your needs are covered. If you aren’t sure how these can fit into your menu to cover gaps, let’s talk—we also have other coffees coming in and timing is everything.
