About Fundadores

In Chiapas as a whole, where farms are slightly bigger, labor shortages have been a challenge, but these extended family-based communities have been more resilient. As prices and demand have spiked due to shortages, we’ve been able to buy more Chiapas than any past year, and even our base-tier price is the highest in the region. We’re really looking to build these relationships long-term.

Fundadores is a smaller group that broke off of the same cooperative as Cafe Capitan with the same goals, some of the leadership even being founding members of the larger umbrella cooperative. They work within the pueblos of Plan de Libertad and El Castaño.
