About Alejandro Espinoza Pinares

Born in the coffee producing town of Tablahuasi in 1982, Alejandro Espinoza Pinares is one of our top coffee producers in all of Southern Peru. He’s been cultivating coffee for several years since inheriting his family’s farm, which totals 2.75 hectares—all dedicated to coffee production.

He grows Typica and Bourbon varieties among a variety of shade trees, including Albizia and Pacay. After processing, he loads his parchment onto mules to be delivered to the nearest road access. Alejandro is a passionate coffee producer who wishes to obtain national and international recognition in the future.

The name of his farm is Pucará-Tablahuasi. Pucará is a Quechua word used to refer to large Inca fortresses, while Tablahuasi, also Quechua, means “House of Wood.” All of the houses in this area are made from native trees, hence the name—it’s essentially a wooded fortress.
