About Lucas Vega Torbisco

Don Lucas Vega Torbisco was born in the Apurimac region in the Aimaraes district in 1954. Apurimac is known for its residence in the high, icy mountains of the Andes. In such a cold area, the possibilities for agricultural production are very limited, so Don Lucas’s father migrated with his entire family to the Amazonas—the Peruvian jungle.

In Amazonas, they began to grow coffee, cassava, corn, bananas, and more. When Don Lucas’s parents passed away, he inherited the family farm. Named “La Colmena,” which means the hive, it’s a tribute to the bounty of beehives in the area that help pollinate their crops.
