About Karani AA

Karani is a kikuyu name of a person who was the owner of the farm where the factory is built. The area is very fertile for
agricultural production and therefore was very viable for the factory, which was constructed and opened for processing in
1998. The peaks of snow-capped famous Mt. Kenya are very visible and the sprinkler irrigation taking place across the Ragati River on the famous Kibirigwi Irrigation Scheme, all gives the area good scenery.
The cherries are being handsorted before pulping. The parchment is then fermented overnight in tanks in order to break the sugars of the pulp. After fermentation, the parchment is then
washed and graded.
