We’re bringing in a slate of superb Colombian lots from Tablon de Gomez in Nariño and Inzá in Cauca. Offerings include an array of community lots and producer separations, all representative of the communal strength and excellence that drew us into Colombia at the starting point of Red Fox and keeps us coming back every year.
We also have a stellar decaf lot made up of coffees from Tablon, decaffeinated in Colombia via the EA process to preserve the dynamic fruit and acidity Nariño coffees are known for.
These coffees will begin to ship by end of September. For every pound sourced from Colombia this season, we will donate 5c to Direct Relief‘s disaster relief work in Western Colombia.
Tablon de Gomez, Nariño
Nariño is very much a fruit basket, with tons of citrus notes from orange to sweet lime, malic acidity like apples and pears, stone fruit like peach and nectarine, underpinned by rounded sugar-browning notes like milk chocolate.
We’ve been working with our current trade partner in Tablon de Gomez for almost a decade, but our work in the region precedes that by much longer.
After several years of tough weather, Nariño’s 2026 season saw positive adaptation this year. The producers we work with in Colombia are extreme smallholders farming 1-5 hectares who previously processed and dried their own coffee down to parchment. A key organizer there has invested in mechanical dryers and begun buying coffee in cherry, sorting defects, and processing himself. The results are impactful. We were able to buy more than we have for the last few years, including more producer separations.
Inzá de Cauca
Our relationships in Inzá are some of our oldest in the world; it’s a true Red Fox anchor coffee. We had to take a gap year due to violence in the region preventing us from getting in last year, but we’re very glad to be back.
Inzá’s coffees are exceptionally clean and balanced, offering a profile that we like to describe as complete, with tons of very structured malic acidity like all manner of fall apples and ripe pears, brown sugar, panela, and muscovado.
To know these coffees is to love them, and we hope you’ll be as happy as we are to see familiar names on the producer ID side as well as superb community lots.
In Both Regions, Across All Lots
Our strategy in Colombia is to focus on rigor and communication: we get in as early as possible, cup every producer’s output, make decisions on the spot, and build lots that represent producers and communities as individuals and as a whole, communicating constantly to ensure quick shipment.
All lots, whether producer or community, go through the same rigorous cupping process. Producer lots are special, but community lots are often the product of the extremely small plots producers farm in both of these areas and are constructed with extreme care to represent the producers within.
Across Colombia, the landscape is still hypercompetitive. The summer’s elections caused the currency valuation to plummet, pushing parchment & FOB costs through the roof, but we’re proud of this curated slate and anticipate a standout year.
Post-earthquake, we’ll maintain communication and monitor shipping impacts.
